She received the Angel Light Award from Explorer
Magazine in 1996 for her poem "Music". November 2005 Joanne received the You've Been Spotted Award
by Shadow Poetry for outstanding poetic excellence. Her poems "Aberdeen Fishing Village" - "New Year's Day
In Kowloon" and "Angeline" were nominated for Best Poem of the Year 2005
by Muses Review with her poem "Angeline" being named Poem of The Month October by Muses Review. Her poem
"Aberdeen Fishing Village" has been named Travel Poem of the Year 2005 by Muses Review Magazine as well as her poem "Angeline" being
named Food Poem of the Year 2005 by Muses Review Magazine. All three poems appear within
the pages of her debut chapbook Red Lanterns.
